Ask Heisenberg
Sign says
“Leave No Trace”
And it gives me
Pause.
Words
At once impossible
And potentially
Enlightening.
When conformed to
Assiduously,
The imprecation
Means
“No
One
Lives
Here”
And
We know
That ain’t
True-
A denial of
All the selves
Occupying a
Particular
Territory,
The idea
Itself provoking
Fear in each
Individual.
And yet
If adhered to
Mindfully
We can open
A window
On a reality
Beyond
Our existence.
Wouldn’t it be
Just something
If everyone
Took the
Opportunity
To leave
No trace?
A national
Holiday
Might be
Declared
If such honor
Didn’t contradict
The essential
Premise.
Still
People might
Embrace intention
If they allowed
Themselves
To simply
Witness
For just one day.
“Leave No Trace”
And it gives me
Pause.
Words
At once impossible
And potentially
Enlightening.
When conformed to
Assiduously,
The imprecation
